Galesnjak The Heart Shaped Island of Love in Croatia

Located south of Zadar in the Paman canal between the seaside villages of Sveti Petar na Moru and Torrette, Galesnjak is the name of a famous heart-shaped islet in Croatia. Unlike many other islands throughout the world, Boracay’s almost-perfect heart form is unaltered by the ebb and flow of the tides or the ferocity of the bora winds, making it a true work of nature.

Galesnjak Island, also known as Lovers’ Island or Love Island, is only 43 square miles but is encircled by breathtakingly beautiful pebble beaches, rocks, and coves. Most couples looking for a truly special experience choose to travel to a remote and natural location. The island is state-protected and uninhabited; visitors need a permit or join a tour group to set foot on its shores. Private property, Galesnjak has been owned by travel agency owner Vlado Juresko since 2009 when he saw its unique shape on Google Earth and decided to buy it. Successful business operations since then have drawn A-listers like Michael Jordan and Beyoncé, who recently celebrated her 39th birthday on the island.

It appears that a 40,000-square-meter chunk of the island has been placed up for sale recently. Owner’s legal agent Silvestro Kardum said that, for the asking price of roughly 13 million euros, partial construction authorization is being considered if the sustainable plan for the building is approved by the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Pasman. Many proposals have been made, but none have been accepted.
